The Best Sandwich I Ever Ate!
You may have read the title and thought, “The best sandwich?”
Yes! The best sandwich. Keep reading and you’ll see why.
Some days ago, I had made it through a full day of getting things done and accomplished. After sitting on the couch for a while, I decided to go to the kitchen to get something to eat.
Thinking to myself about what I’d find to eat, I recalled a sandwich spread I wanted to make, and I smiled with excitement to prepare the quick dish.
I pulled out the necessary ingredients and grabbed the beautifully buttered croissant. Fancy, right? I mixed the ingredients with great focus and anticipation to consume the carefully prepared end of the day meal.
I assembled the sandwich to my liking and took a moment to admire the plate of food. Making my way back to the couch, I knew it was going to be good.
I sat down, and began to pray and thank God for the day that I had and for what I was about to devour!
I ended the prayer and took the first bite of the sandwich. Now please know, I’ve had many delicious sandwiches in my life but this one was really different. It wasn’t because of what was in between the two halves of the croissant. It wasn’t the beverage that I had ready to wash it all down.
It was the moment I realized that all of my needs were met. God had blessed me so well that I had nothing but peace of mind. It was that peace that allowed me to enjoy a simple sandwich after a long day of getting things done.
I had no anxieties. I had no worries. I had no stress. I was truly blessed. It was at that moment that I said, “God, this is the best sandwich I ever ate”.
Many times we don’t take the time to realize just how blessed we are and how God is a keeper of His word and that He will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory.
How many times have you had a wonderful meal in front of you, but you couldn’t enjoy it because you were stressed about a decision or matter of concern?
How many times have you had an opportunity to enjoy fellowship with others through exciting activities or conversation, but you couldn’t enjoy yourself because you were worried about something that needed to be dealt with?
At some point, you have to realize that God is your source. He is your supplier. He is your peace, and He is your comfort. If you are acknowledging Him in all of your ways, why worry? If you are keeping your minds stayed on Him, shouldn’t you have peace?
If you are to be anxious for nothing but in all things through prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God, then why are you anxious?
I tell you the truth, I was truly thankful as I bit into my sandwich. And that is why it was the best sandwich I ever ate. Not so much because of the sandwich, though it was really good, but because God is really good.
Do you agree?

Yes!! There is nothing like the Peace of the Lord and allowing you to have a moment to truly take in all the blessing and be thankful!! ❤️ The little things become so much more valuable when you take time to acknowledge where it all comes from! GOD IS SO GOOD!!!
Absolutely! In everything we must give thanks for it is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning us! God does keep His word and He expects us to know His word and live His word. He is good and His mercy is everlasting and His truth endures through all generations! Thank you for your comment!
Oh my gosh! I love this story!!! I really thought I was going to find a recipe, but instead found the best analogy of the peace that God gives us! I absolutely love this story! 💝
Hi Molly,
Thank you for commenting. I’m glad you loved the story! The peace of God is wonderful, isn’t it?? To God be all the glory!
Amen, Yes I agree! I am so excited about the moves of God. He takes care of every piece of a situation or circumstance to give me peace. I celebrate the moves of God in your life and your sandwich of thanks! God is phenomenal and I press daily to rest in the peace of his will.
Yes, indeed! God is perfect in all of His ways and His ways are amazing. He truly does have all things under control and that is why we should rest in the understanding of His will. We celebrate the moves of God in your life as well and continue to enjoy His peace! Thanks for sharing!
Yes! This is so true. There truly is nothing like a day of accomplishment and then having that peace at the end of it. Especially when you take the time to acknowledge that it was God that allowed all things to fall into place and to feel that peace. What a blessing! What a lesson to be taught to take the time to acknowledge Him for his goodness from the large things to the small.
Yes, yes and yes! Just think about how many times we worry about things big or small when it is God who has given us the grace to do His will. And of course, He will supply all of our needs according to His riches! There’s nothing like the peace He gives to those who trust and love Him! Thank you for your comment!
Oh yes ma’am I do agree. He been sooo good. I know I can be selfish an say just to me but i know that would be a lie. But the peace that comes with that good bit is beautiful its peace no worries nothing pullin away from focusing on the meal about to devour
Yes, what a blessing right? God is such a good God and it gets better each and every day! Thanks so much for your comments!
Oh yes ma’am. I have been there an been so at peace with excitement just to eat an not have to worry about something else. Nothing pulling you away because theres nothing I need to do because He handled everything. So I just sit there with a smile an kicking of the legs devouring the meal that is placed before me
The title caught my attention indeed. I was prepared to read all about this wonderful sandwich 😀. Thanks for reiterating the fact that with God at the helm, it’s pointless to be stressed out and anxious; it’s all wasted energy.
I’m sure it did catch your attention! I’ll have to tell you the recipe for that wonderful sandwich! You’re going to get a good laugh. Great point, all the stress and anxiety is a complete waste of energy and shows lack of faith! Thanks for your comment!
Yes, this has definitely been my story for a minute now. For me to complain would just be ungrateful and out the will of God. As if God does not take care of his own people. God has been good. Amen!
Yes! God has truly been good and His will is perfect! What reason would we have to complain? Not one! Not one at all! Thanks for sharing!
Yes!! I agree 100%. There is a particular peace I have when I have completed all tasks for the day, and remember that God has taken care of all my needs. Even when I start to consider things for the next day, I’m excited because God reminds me He’s going to take care of that day too.
Absolutely! God has a way of assuring us that He will take care of everything and that He has given us the grace measure to accomplish all tasks! What a blessing it is! Thank you for your comment!
God is Faithful!!! I absolutely agree. I think that I am spoiled because my needs are met and some of my desires He allows me to have.
Who would not serve such a Faithful God.
Absolutely! He is truly faithful! He is not slack concerning His promises as some men count slackness! Thank you for your comment!
Totally unexpected twist, but I love the meaning! You got me to read and think about something important today that I would not have sought out on my own. I think it’s exactly what I needed! Thank you!
Hi Ashley!
Wow, that is awesome! Sometimes we just never know how a person is going to receive what we post so I’m glad you got what you needed! To God be all the glory!
What a beautiful blog post! I think I need to sit down and enjoy my meals more often. Thank you
Hi Engie!
Don’t we all LOL!
This really hit home… I opened this post thinking I would learn about why this sandwich was so delicious and found so much more. It is so easy sometimes to overlook the little blessings Hod gives us every day from the delicious food we are able to enjoy to the sound of a child’s laugh to the smell of rain on a summer day. Thank you for reminding me that there are so many things to be thankful for.
Hi Kimberly,
You’re absolutely right! We take so many blessings for granted and we miss out of all the things God has given us to enjoy when they are overlooked. God truly has a way of reminding us that He is God and the earth is His and the fulness thereof!
Thanks for commenting!
This is such a beautiful post. I clicked on it thinking I was going to get a recipe, and I did! I got the recipe for peace and comfort in God.
I’m not lying when I say that this nearly made me cry while reading it. I’ve had a rough work/life balance lately–honestly, my own blog was born out of my frustration with my career and the wish that I could spend every moment wrapped up in my children instead of my job. Just breaking all of the worry down and singling out the one constant–God–is such a beautiful thing and exactly what I needed to hear.
You have reminded me to savor the things I’m thankful for, like my children, and find the beauty in the small things. Thank you!
Hi Kristin,
What a blessing it is to know that the one constant in our lives is God. He has a way of directing you to exactly what you need at the exact time you need it. I’ve been there so many times. I’d love to hear more about your life and how God is working on your behalf!
Thanks for stopping by!
God is good all the time. I have so many testimonies about His greatness and favour in my life. I am happy that with everything that is going on around us, you are still grateful.
Hi Malaika!
Yes, He is good all the time! I’d love to hear your testimonies!
Love it! I always say it’s the little things. It’s important to take a moment and, I guess you could say check yourself. Do you have your needs met? Do you have a roof over your head? Food in your belly? Then you should feel blessed for sure.
Hi Kayla! Thank you for your comment! Absolutely, it’s the little things we take for granted. And doing a self-check is so important. We often find ourselves complaining over things we shouldn’t! If our needs are met, can’t we just take time to celebrate that?
Thank you! For the sandwich! After reading it, I can think of MANY articles to write… the best day I ever had… the best hike I’ve ever been on… the best pillow I’ve ever owned… the best hole I ever dug. It’s all in the gratitude for EVERYTHING!
Hi Karla! Thanks for your comment! I’m happy you can think of so many articles to write and I hope you get to write them all! I’d love to read “The best hike I’ve ever been on”!!
What a great metaphor. I came for the sandwich, but got so much more! Love the surprises and reminders that God gives us when we acknowledge him and thank him.
Hi Ty! Thanks for your comment. Absolutely, God has a wonderful way of reminding us that our blessings and benefits come from Him! He gets all the glory!
I enjoyed reading this post! It’s a really great perspective and a wonderful reminder to be present and thankful even in the midst of trials and difficulty. I love that you said, “If you are acknowledging Him in all of your ways, why worry? If you are keeping your minds stayed on Him, shouldn’t you have peace?” Good point! You got out attention with the sandwich and encouraged us with the Word. Well done!
How true and encouraging! If we allow the enemy to fill our minds with worry, we can miss the many blessings God has for us. How much better to trust in the Lord and give thanks for His great provision!
Absolutely loved this! How quickly man of us forget about the blessings we have regardless of our circumstances. Thank you for sharing.
Love, love this! Oh, may we be conscious of the many blessings we have been bestowed with – and have overflowing hearts of gratitude!
So true!! It is great that you were silent enough to realize how blessed you are as well…sometimes that is our problem too! Thanks for sharing!
